“Lemmy who?”
Y’know…Lemmy Kilmister? The singer, bass player and leader of the legendary band Motörhead? Let me school ya…
Heavy metal rock group, Motörhead (Lemmy, with long time guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee) have been around for as long as I am old; turning out album after album of hard & heavy rock (“Motorizer”, their 24th studio album, was just released last month) and touring the world a million times over.
Steph & I saw them in St. Louis at The Pageant last Tuesday night and they did not disappoint. I have to say they were the LOUDEST band I’ve ever heard (I’m eternally grateful for bringing earplugs – yes, I wear earplugs to heavy metal concerts, sue me.)

When the show was originally announced, it was Motörhead & Testament, another of my all-time favorite metal bands. I immediately bought a pair of tickets only to have the line-up change, Testament dropped out and was to be replaced by the Misfits. Misfits?? Well, whatever. The Australian up-and-coming Airbourne was also scheduled to play along with two other new bands, Valient Thorr (who kicked MAJOR ass) & ASG (who?).
When we got to the venue, it was posted that the Misfits would not be playing. Also, Airbourne had to drop out because their singer was having throat/vocal chord problems. It was the two no-name bands and Motörhead, but it was still an amazing show. VT was wild & crazy, bringing a lot of energy & excitement to the stage. Motorhead, of course, came out and did their thang for about 2 hours. It was simply awesome.
I’ve put links in this post to all of those bands I mentioned. If you have no clue who I’m talking about, go check them out. You might find some new music you like!
